The Syracuse Study Group was inspired to read more of Bastiat after reading That Which is Seen....we chose to read The Law.  WOW!  Excellent essay that predicts most of the issues the U.S. is having today.  Bastiat gives a clear understanding of the relationship between the legislator and the people.

There are also some great comparisons between philosophers that we have touched on in FOL - Montesquieu, Solon, etc.  Robespierre said: "The principle of the republican government is virtue, and the means required to establish virtue is terror."

Thanks Alix... I'm grabbing it now. I'll miss you guys this weekend. My project is coming along very well at church and I'm learning a lot about family ministry and moving a group of people to action...
